Agro-industry production of sugarcane grown using subsurface drip fertigation with nitrogen and potassium PAB

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the stalk yield, technological quality parameters, and sugar and alcohol productions in the first sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) crop cycle, according to the response to N and K2O applications by subsurface drip fertigation. The experiment was carried out in a dystrophic Ultisol, in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of a 2X + 2X + 1 incomplete factorial arrangement with the application of 60, 80, 120, 160, and 180 kg ha-1 N and 60, 80, 120, 160, and 180 kg ha-1 K2O. ABSTRACT Cowpea beans play an important role in Brazilian farming, mainly in northern and northeastern regions, where it is widely grown among smallholder farmers. In recent years, commercial farmers have expanded its cultivation, mostly to the Midwest. This study aimed at evaluating the planting density of 'BRS Itaim' black-eyed cowpea beans under conventional (CT) and no-tillage (NT), with 75% mulch in the first year. ABSTRACT Proposing sufficiency ranges and critical levels is an important technique for correct evaluation of leaf nutrient diagnosis. In this study, the objective was to propose critical levels and sufficiency ranges of macro- and micronutrients for the diagnostic leaf of cowpea, collected at flowering, with the results of macro- and micronutrients and productivity in the Northeast of Brazil. The critical level was calculated by the reduced normal distribution and by the boundary line method, which was also used to generate sufficiency ranges. Estratégias ótimas de irrigação do feijão‑caupi para produção de grãos verdes PAB

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar estratégias ótimas de irrigação do feijão‑caupi (Vigna unguiculata) para a produção de grãos verdes, com a água como fator limitante da produção e diferentes valores de preço do produto. O experimento foi conduzido na Embrapa Meio‑Norte, em Teresina, PI, entre setembro e novembro de 2009. Foram avaliadas cinco lâminas de irrigação, estabelecidas com base em frações da evapotranspiração de referência (25, 50, 75, 100 e 125% da ETo), e as cultivares BRS Guariba e BRS Paraguaçu de feijão‑caupi. Estratégias ótimas de irrigação para a cultura da melancia PAB

O trabalho teve como objetivo determinar estratégias ótimas de irrigação para a cultura da melancia (Citrullus lanatus Thumb. Mansf.), considerando a água como fator limitante da produção e diferentes valores para o preço do produto e custos da energia elétrica. Utilizou-se uma função de produção quadrática e função de custo linear obtidas para as condições edafoclimáticas dos Tabuleiros Costeiros do Piauí. A irrigação com déficit proporcionou as maiores rendas líquidas, com significativa economia de água, no intervalo de variação de preços do produto de US$ 0,05 kg-1 a US$ 0,35 kg-1, nas três formas de tarifação da energia elétrica. Acima desse intervalo, deve-se utilizar a lâmina que maximiza a produção de frutos.

Identification of cowpea genotypes for drought tolerance Rev. Ciênc. Agron.

The genotypes selection for drought tolerance is very important for world food production, principally in arid regions or sites with irregular rain distribution. The objective of this work was to identify cowpea genotypes with drought tolerance and water stress sensitivity characteristics. Two experiments were carried out with 20 treatments and four replications, one under water deficit during reproductive phase and another one under full irrigation. The water deficit was obtained applying half the water depth required by cowpea. The leaf area index, chlorophyll content, grain components and grain yield were evaluated. O objetivo deste trabalho foi definir os níveis ótimos de irrigação, nitrogênio e potássio em cana-de-açúcar, cultivar RB867515, aplicados por gotejamento subsuperficial, em ciclo de primeira soca, para máxima produção de colmos, açúcar e álcool. O experimento foi realizado em Plintossolo do Município de União, no Estado do Piauí, durante o ano agrícola 2008/2009. ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to use different selection criteria to identify cowpea genotypes tolerant to water deficit to be used in recurrent selection programs aiming to reduce the cowpea crop cycle and improve its productive components. Six cowpea genotypes were crossed in a complete diallel scheme. Simulation of growth and development of irrigated cowpea in Piauí State by CROPGRO model PAB

The objective of this work was to adapt the CROPGRO model, which is part of the DSSAT system, for simulating the cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) growth and development under soil and climate conditions of the Baixo Parnaíba region, Piauí State, Brazil. In the CROPGRO, only input parameters that define crop species, cultivars, and ecotype were changed in order to characterize the cowpea crop. Soil and climate files were created for the considered site. Field experiments without water deficit were used to calibrate the model. Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate water storage in a Plinthaqualf under different straw levels during the fourth ratoon season of a sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) crop. The study was conducted in the 2013/2014 crop season, with the cultivar SP-813250, at two soil depths (0.0-0.3 and 0.3-0.6 m), in a randomized complete block design, with five straw levels (0.0, 4.2, 9.5, 13.0, and 18.4 Mg ha-1) and four replicates. Soil moisture content was monitored with a time-domain reflectometer. The straw provided gains of up to 20 Mg ha-1 stems and kept increased water storage in the soil, in comparison with the soil without straw, in all evaluated periods.
